Okay people, hold still now...

Today I spent a few hours sketching at the Literary Arts festival, trying to get a feel for capturing people in motion. Maybe with a little practice I can learn to capture their postures and movements with a few strokes instead of so many indistinguishable scribbles. I love it when they don't even know I'm there. For these, I just turned the page as I turned my point of view from left, center and then right.

Plein Air Today

I think I may have gotten a little sunburned painting this one! I've decided to practice more. These are some zinnias planted near an old piece of farm equipment that's just always been there. I don't know what it is or what it was used for, but, at one time I think I remember seeing the name, PAPEC painted on it. Next to the zinnias are some corn stalks which have long been dead, but I painted them green as I remembered them from earlier this summer.

Exploring new ground....

I've been trying to put feeling into my paintings. Here is Ashley again. What is she thinking? Does she long for someone?

Plein Air Rose

Finally, some roses are blooming again. Rather than cut one of them, I pulled up a chair and just painted it in the sun. It's small, about 5x5. I'm getting my enthusiasm back!
